They sell stuff cant think of the name at drugstores to help people who bite their fingernails. Its really horrid tasting, and cured my friend of his habit in just a week. You could ask about such products at the drugstore, then put it on your thumbs. Asking for something to help control nail biting would be a lot less humiliating than admitting the real problem Good luck.
