first of all it would be a waste of energy iam not an environmentalist or anything close to one this how Nintendo gets you to play games because they know people love that light the flashes and comes on when you get a message but, if you want it to stay on then go to options and look under wii connect and and i think there is an option called slot illumination and you can choose on, dim, or off. The default setting is dimbrbrfor the GCN slots you have the slots mixed upbrwhat you think is one is actually twobrbecuase the wii only checks the first slot and if something is in the first slot then it will check the second slotbrthe first lsotslot A is on the right and the second slot slot B is on the left
